Preventing Food Waste: Thanksgiving and Beyond

Thanksgiving is coming, and in many households, it's a big day for food waste!

Let's discuss, ahead of time, how to implement thoughtful food practices that will help you waste less. Preventing food waste can have a major positive impact on climate change. (It impacts your finances positively, too.) There are many ways you can do your part to slow down climate change, and this one you can do right from your own kitchen!

Come share and learn practical solutions for managing food and preventing waste at home in this virtual social hosted by "the Green Elf of Takoma Park," Tanya DeKona

We will focus on the preventative aspects of consumer behavior, not on where to send foods that you've already prepared but aren't going to use.

Preventative behaviors include strategies for:

  • how you shop,

  • how you store foods,

  • how you manage foods, and

  • how you cook in your kitchen.

What practical suggestions would you like to share, and what would you like to learn?

Please consider sharing this invitation to encourage others to join this important conversation. (Sending it now to whoever attends your Thanksgiving celebration is a great way to introduce the idea of preventing food waste which can make your conversations about it easier and more effective.)
