Coping with Relationship Issues during Holidays:A Silver Spring Timebank Virtual Social Sun., Dec. 4, 2022, 3pm-5
Most cultural traditions involve winter holiday festivities around the time of the winter solstice to celebrate the beginning of longer days and more light. Typically these and other holiday celebrations bring together family and/or friends for gatherings of one kind or another and may create settings in which relationship issues come to the forefront and present challenges to the joy and celebration we expect to experience over the holidays.
Jacqie Wallen has a Ph.D. in Human Development and a Master’s in Social Work. In her practice of psychotherapy, she works with older adults and their adult children. She will highlight some of the relationship issues we may confront over the holidays and describe techniques we can use to cope with them positively.
After her presentation, Jacqie will encourage questions and facilitate a general discussion. She will pose the following questions to participants:
What winter holidays do you celebrate and how do you celebrate them?
What do you enjoy most about holiday celebrations?
What kinds of relationship issues challenge you at these times?
What tips do you have for coping with relationship issues during holidays?
